about MRS. POPPY PUFF

I've been "crabbing" since January 2003. After purchasing our first two hermies at a mall, I emersed myself in land hermit crab information on the internet. Land hermit crabs quickly became my obsession. I ran out to the local pet stores to get glass aquariums and anything else that I could possibly use for hermit crabs. I visited landhermitcrabs.com to have my questions about hermies answered. I purchased supplies for my hermies online at thehermiehut.com. Oh boy, when will this end??

In the past year, we've graduated from a two gallon plastic kritter keeper to a ten gallon aquarium and a 5 gallon glass reptile terrarium and now we have our crabs in a 40 gallon tank with a 20 long tank and 2 10 gallon tanks used as ISO units. Our hermit crab family has also grown...we now have over 40 hermit crabs.

I didn't intend for this website to be a hermit crab care site. Instead, I've posted photos and information about MY hermies. Each hermit crab has their own distinct personality and it has been great to get to know them. Over the past year I've been able to capture several fascinating shots of shell changes, a surface molt in progress, and I've been very lucky to acquire a vast array of different hermit crab species.

We started naming our hermit crabs after characters from Spongebob Squarepants but as the number of hermit crabs in our tank increased, we started to run out of Spongebob names. We went on to Star Wars names and now...we have no set naming convention for our new additions.

I'm ready, I'm ready.
