You can see the hermit crab's eyes are missing from the exoskeleton.

After taking pictures of the exoskeleton, I put it into the iso tank near the freshly molted crab. The crab ate his exoskeleton and recovered quickly. The total amount of time it takes for a crab to molt & recover varies greatly with each crab. The smaller crabs may be done in a few days while a larger crab may take weeks to molt.
