molting

After changing one of my isolation tanks to forest bedding (by T-Rex), several of my crabs have successfully molted in the soil-like substrate. Here you can see pieces of Pearl's uneaten exoskeleton and her larger legs (peripods) and pinchers (chelipeds). Even though it's hard to identify all of her anatomical parts, this is a great picture that shows what happens underground. **This picture was taken from the bottom of the isolation tank. DO NOT dig up your molting hermit crab under any circumstances.**
